MOLNUPIRAVIR (MOL nue PIR a vir) treats mild to moderate COVID-19. It may help people who are at high risk of developing severe illness. This medication works by limiting the spread of the virus in your body. The FDA has allowed the emergency use of this medication.
Take this medication by mouth with water. Take it as directed on the prescription label at the same time every day. Do not cut, crush, or chew this medication. Swallow the capsules whole. You can take it with or without food. If it upsets your stomach, take it with food. Take all of it unless your care team tells you to stop it early. Keep taking it even if you think you are better.
Talk to your care team about the use of this medication in children. Special care may be needed.

Keep out of the reach of children and pets.
Store at room temperature between 20 and 25 degrees C (68 and 77 degrees F). Get rid of any unused medication after the expiration date.

If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you can unless it is more than 10 hours late. If it is more than 10 hours late, skip the missed dose. Take the next dose at the normal time. Do not take extra or 2 doses at the same time to make up for the missed dose.
Your condition will be monitored carefully while you are receiving this medication. Visit your care team for regular checkups. Tell your care team if your symptoms do not start to get better or if they get worse.
Do not become pregnant while taking this medication. You may need a pregnancy test before starting this medication. Women must use a reliable form of birth control while taking this medication and for 4 days after stopping the medication. Women should inform their care team if they wish to become pregnant or think they might be pregnant. Men should not father a child while taking this medication and for 3 months after stopping it. There is potential for serious harm to an unborn child. Talk to your care team for more information. Do not breast-feed an infant while taking this medication and for 4 days after stopping the medication.
